Defiance
Defiance shows up when resistance becomes a reflex — when authority, guidance, or correction feels threatening rather than helpful. You might feel a strong pull to push back, do things your own way, or reject direction simply because it challenges your independence. While defiance can feel like strength or self-determination, over time it often leads to isolation, conflict, and a growing distance from the people — and the God — who desire your good.
Spiritually, defiance places the self at the center, trusting personal judgment over God’s wisdom and care. Instead of receiving God’s guidance as loving and life-giving, defiance frames it as restrictive or unnecessary. But the gospel offers a different way forward. Jesus invites you into a life marked not by resistance, but by trust — where humility replaces self-rule and obedience becomes a pathway to freedom, peace, and restored relationship with God.
