Comfort, Security & Control
We all want comfort, safety, and a sense of control — they’re part of how we try to protect ourselves from pain, uncertainty, and loss. But when these desires become the center of our attention, they can start to shape our decisions, relationships, and ability to trust God’s goodness. You may find yourself preoccupied with staying comfortable, avoiding risk, or planning every outcome — and this can leave you anxious, exhausted, or disconnected from the life God invites you into.
Spiritually, this search for control can crowd out trust in God’s provision and sovereignty. Instead of resting in His faithful care, you may find your peace tied to circumstances you can manage or predict. That can make it hard to surrender fear, uncertainty, or disappointment in a healthy way. But God offers a different kind of peace — one that doesn’t depend on having everything settled, but on resting in His presence and promise. Jesus invites you to trade anxiety for trust and discover freedom that doesn’t come from control, but from God’s unchanging character.
