Through Money
Money is a powerful force in everyday life. It influences our decisions, relationships, anxieties, and sense of security. Whether we have little or much, money has a way of revealing what we trust, what we fear, and what we believe will ultimately provide for us.
Following Jesus in our finances doesn’t mean ignoring money or feeling guilt about it. It means learning to trust God more deeply, practice generosity, and resist the pull of control, comparison, and anxiety. This page is here to help you reflect honestly on how money is shaping you—and how God may be inviting you toward freedom and faithfulness.
Money Self-Reflection
Money forms our hearts over time. This reflection can help you notice where trust is growing—or where something may be off.
Signs of Healthy Formation
- Contentment grows regardless of financial circumstances
- Generosity becomes a natural response rather than a reluctant obligation
- Financial decisions are shaped by wisdom, prayer, and trust in God
- Money is viewed as a tool, not a source of identity or security
- Gratitude increases even in seasons of limitation
Signs Something Is Off
- Anxiety or fear dominates financial decision-making
- Your sense of security rises and falls with income or savings
- Comparison with others fuels dissatisfaction or pressure
- Control over money replaces trust in God’s provision
- Generosity feels threatening or irresponsible
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
— MATTHEW 6:24
Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
— MATTHEW 6:31-33
Remove far from me falsehood and lying; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with the food that is needful for me, lest I be full and deny you and say, “Who is the Lord?” or lest I be poor and steal and profane the name of my God.
— PROVERBS 30:8-9
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
— HEBREWS 13:5
Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
— LUKE 12:15
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.
— PROVERBS 22:7
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
— PHILIPPIANS 4:19
Better is the little that the righteous has than the abundance of many wicked. For the arms of the wicked shall be broken, but the Lord upholds the righteous.
— PSALM 37:16-17
