Through Loss & Grief

Loss is an unavoidable part of life. Whether through death, broken relationships, unmet dreams, or sudden change, grief enters our stories in ways that can feel overwhelming and disorienting. It affects not only our emotions, but our faith, relationships, and sense of meaning.

Following Jesus through loss and grief does not mean rushing healing or suppressing sorrow. It means bringing our pain honestly before God, trusting His presence in the darkness, and allowing Him to form perseverance, compassion, and hope over time. This page is here to help you reflect on where you are in your grief and take a faithful next step forward.

Loss & Grief Self-Reflection

Grief shapes us over time. This reflection can help you notice how loss is affecting your heart—and where God may be at work.

  • Loss defines your identity or future outlook
  • You withdraw from community or resist support

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

— PSALM 147:3

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

— 2 CORINTHIANS 1:3-4

For the Lord will not cast off forever, for, though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; for he does not afflict from his heart or grieve the children of men.

— LAMENTATIONS 3:31-33

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

— MATTHEW 5:4

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
