Through Mentoring
Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo journey—it’s a shared life of discipleship. Being mentored is a vital part of being discipled: learning from mature Christians who are intentionally following Jesus and inviting others to do the same. A mentor is someone whose life reflects a growing obedience to Christ—someone who can honestly say, “Follow me as I follow Him.”
Spiritual growth happens through relationship, not just information. God often shapes us through people who help us see blind spots, establish healthy rhythms, and stay anchored in truth when life gets complicated. Mentoring isn’t about being judged or “fixed”; it’s about walking alongside someone who models faithfulness, offers wise encouragement, and helps you grow into the kind of disciple whose life others may one day want to emulate.
Mentoring at Sonrise can include:
- Encouragement and prayer for what you’re facing
- Accountability for habits, choices, and spiritual rhythms
- Help understanding Scripture and applying it to real life
- Guidance for taking a next step (community, serving, healing, growth)
- A safe space for honesty, questions, and growth
And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.
— 2 TIMOTHY 2:2
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
— PROVERBS 27:17
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
— HEBREWS 10:24-25
